Terms of Use

These terms explain the basic rules for using Clanopedia respectfully and safely.

This policy is subject to formal legal review and may change as the service develops. It explains Clanopedia's current practices in plain language and is not legal advice.

Using Clanopedia

Features, public information, review processes, CultureKit templates, Heritage Credits and policies may change over time. These terms remain subject to formal legal review.

Account responsibility

  • Use accurate account information where practical.
  • Keep your sign-in details private.
  • Do not impersonate another person, family, clan, organisation or community authority.
  • Do not attempt to access another user's profile, submissions, family tree, credits, referrals, achievements or downloads.

Respectful contributions

  • Contribute carefully, respectfully and with sources where possible.
  • Separate fact, oral history, interpretation and opinion.
  • Do not submit harmful, defamatory, abusive, unlawful, hateful or misleading content.
  • Do not post private living-person information publicly without consent.
  • Do not use Clanopedia to inflame ethnic hostility, family conflict or cultural harm.

Sensitive information

You do not need an ID number to create an account, build a family tree, search public records or make basic heritage contributions.

Do not add living people's ID numbers, addresses, medical details, financial details, private disputes or phone numbers into public contribution fields.

If Clanopedia later offers a separate verification feature, any request for sensitive identity information should be explained separately and used only for the stated verification purpose.

Moderation and review

Clanopedia may review, reject, request changes, dispute, correct, hide or remove content where appropriate for safety, trust, accuracy, privacy, legal or cultural sensitivity reasons.

Reviewed pages may still be incomplete or incorrect. Cultural and family-history information may change as sources improve and communities share corrections.

No scraping or misuse

  • Do not scrape, mass extract, resell or republish Clanopedia records or user data without permission.
  • Do not misuse family-tree data or try to infer private family information from public records.
  • Do not interfere with sign-in, reviews, Heritage Credits, invitations or downloads.

CultureKit and Heritage Credits

CultureKit templates are provided for personal, family and community heritage work. They are not a substitute for legal, genealogical, archival or cultural authority advice.

Heritage Credits are access credits only. They are not cash, not transferable, not redeemable for money and may be adjusted as the service changes.

Plain-language limitation

Clanopedia helps families discover and preserve heritage, but it cannot guarantee that every page, relationship, source, suggestion, template or contribution is complete, current or correct. Do not treat Clanopedia as official proof of cultural truth, identity, ancestry, lineage, clan membership, family relationships or legal status.
